Lampshade Weaving
The lampshade collection is handwoven by specialized craftspeople. The artisans transform the natural plant fibres into delicate strings that form the foundation of this product. They also use recycled coastal palstic rattan strings for the recycled lamps. Guided by a metal frame designed to give stability and guarantee consistency, the artisans skillfully intertwine the rattan strings into unique patterns and shapes. These craftspeople are masters of their trade, honing their skills through generations of traditional knowledge and modern creativity. The lampshades are formed using traditional techniques and some simple tools.
This craft also holds a special place in the lives of these artisans, who reside in rural remote villages. The lampshade weaving takes place in a modest local workshop and provides an important stream of income to the weavers.
