Nature is at the origin of our designs

I love Indonesia. I have been travelling through Asia for many years but Indonesia is still my favourite. I love her nature. The fierce, wild and unstoppable lush green is undeniably overwhelming. Due to Indonesia’s warm and humid climate, nature grows exuberant and the Indonesian lifestyle is mainly outdoors. The houses are open; inside is connected with the outside and vice versa. In this country you experience the optimum contrast between the modern built environment with its machine made minimalistic forms versus the lush organic forms of nature. This balance between perfection and imperfection creates a new harmony that stimulates your connection with nature and as a result with your own nature. Unfortunately, due to our hectic and indoor lifestyle, we forget how strong our connection with nature actually is.

Handmade organic shapes

Although I am very fond of minimalistic strong designs, nature inspired me to look at interior design from a different perspective. We started to design our home decoration items not from a designers point of view but from natures point of view. So, eco-friendly materials and natural, organic forms are at the origin of our products. We persevere the authentic character of the materials in our designs and integrate human nature into it. Only products made by hand can shape organic forms. That’s not something a machine can do.

Increasing your wellbeing

Bringing nature into your home improves your overall physical and mental health, fitness and wellbeing. It can be as simple as increasing the amount of daylight and clean air into your home or working environment, or add lots of green plants. But there is more; organic forms and shapes (even made of steel) improve your connection with nature and create the same effect. Off course a single basket from plant material and of organic shape does not increase your wellbeing on its own; the more integrated the concept is the more effective it will be. There is an architectural trend on this subject called Biophilic Design. Biophilic design seeks to connect our inherent need to affiliate with nature in the modern built environment. Buildings that are constructed according this principle increase productivity, stimulate learning process and recovery of patients and reduces stress.

Let nature inspire you

How we experience a room or area is as much as important as the way it looks. Our inert connection with nature should stimulate us to design spaces that makes us feel comfortable, creative, peaceful or stimulated instead of reflecting a picture perfect. According to our vision your home or working space should be decorated in the way you feel most comfortable, expressing your own personal style. So follow your own nature and let nature inspire you.
