In 2025, we continued to prove that real impact happens where care for people and the planet meet. Our impact report show how responsible design, community partnerships, and circular practices can create tangible impact for ecosystems and livelihoods around the world.

For a greener tomorrowOur results

Now more than ever, the choices we make as individuals, businesses, and communities matter.

Across the world, attention is being pulled in many directions, while environmental damage accelerates and human rights continue to be challenged. In many regions like Southeast Asia, the effects of climate change are no longer distant warnings but daily realities. This makes the connection between people and planet impossible to ignore: when communities are protected, empowered, and treated with dignity, they are better able to protect the natural systems they depend on.

At the same time, the rise of fast furniture is putting unprecedented pressure on people and the planet. Over 10 million tonnes of furniture are discarded every year across the globe, with a large portion ending up in landfills. In the EU alone only 10% of furniture waste is recycled. Built for speed and low-cost rather than longevity, fast furniture often uses virgin wood, plastics, and harmful chemical finishes, contributing to deforestation and increased carbon emissions.

Given all of these issues and challenges, we believe the real impact begins with responsible business. Our work is guided by fairness, circularity, and wellbeing, reminding us that a kinder future for both people and planet is possible.

Protecting the planet is inseparable from protecting people.

When human rights are threatened, communities lose the power, safety, and freedom they need to care for their environment and build sustainable futures. Ongoing conflicts, growing pressure on human rights, and increasing political polarization shifted attention away from climate emergency, even as its effects became more visible across the globe through flooding, extreme heat, and environmental degradation.

In moments like these, it’s important to raise awareness and use everyday platforms to stand for dignity, freedom, and compassion. Our Pride and Country Flag candle collections were created as symbols of solidarity to give people a simple and tangible way to show support for LGBTQ+ communities and those affected by the conflicts in Ukraine and Palestine. Through this collection, we aim to remind our community that human rights are not abstract issues but rather lived realities that deserve visibility, protection, and collective responsibility.

Environmental care is strongest when communities are economically secure.

Across our supply chain, we work with makers who are pioneers in their regions, such as small start-ups to fair trade–certified workshops who are all committed to creating safe, fair, and positive work environments. We build long-term partnerships based on transparency, fair pricing, and shared growth. Our support encompasses pre-financing of raw materials, support with price calculations, book-keeping, and process optimization to help our partners build stable, independent businesses.

Waste is only waste when we fail to see its potential.

In 2025, we continued treating discarded materials as valuable resources by turning teak roots, textile waste, and upcycled glass into home décor. This work matters in a world where only around 19% of global waste is recycled, an estimated 92 million tonnes of waste is generated from the textile industry, and only 21% of glass is recycled, despite being infinitely recyclable.

We reduce pressure on natural ecosystems and keep valuable materials in use for longer by repurposing what already exists. The implementation of low-tech, village-level production creates an environment where fair wages, safe working conditions, and inclusive job opportunities exists. In total, we recycled 8 tons of waste in 2025, keeping valuable materials in circulation and out of landfills.

Around 80% of ocean plastic originates from land-based sources, making early intervention essential. This reality is clearly visible along coastlines in places like Indonesia, where plastic waste accumulates rapidly and threatens marine ecosystems.

To help address this issue, we work together with local cleanup initiatives to take responsibility for the materials used in our products, beginning at the shoreline.

Together with local collectors and community groups, we repurposed coastal plastic waste and turn it into materials for our lampshades. In 2025, we recycled over 1 ton of coastal plastic waste, keeping it out of the ocean and giving it a second life through design.

Healthy forests are the foundation of healthy communities.

Our long-standing partnership with Trees for the Future (TREES.org) remains at the core of our mission. This initiative helps farmers restore degraded land, grow sustainable food sources, improve soil health, and strengthen economic resilience.

For every candle sold at Originalhome, a tree is planted. This turns a simple, everyday product into an act of restoration. In 2025 alone, we planted 43,422 trees, supporting farmers and family members across vulnerable regions in Africa.

When we connect product choices to real environmental action, tree planting becomes a system of regeneration.

Making an impact should not feel distant or complicated.

We believe sustainability should fit naturally into daily life, without requiring perfection. Our products make it easier to live mindfully, whether by lighting a tree-planting candle, choosing a lampshade made from ocean-bound plastic, or using reclaimed wood.

Mindful living is all about choosing better where you can and allowing those choices to carry real meaning. These everyday choices contribute to healthier homes by reducing exposure to harmful chemicals, improving indoor air quality, and creating safe spaces for children and pets. When we commit to choosing durable, well-crafted products made from recycled and responsibly sourced materials, we reduce waste, lower carbon impact, and keep valuable resources in a circular system.

Thoughtfully made pieces also tell meaningful stories of reclaimed materials, traditional craftsmanship, and community to bring purpose and connection into everyday spaces.

While reflecting on our year, we are also constantly shaping what comes next. Our ambition remains clear: to build and strengthen a business model where waste becomes a valuable resource, support a low-tech community production that creates meaningful livelihoods, and produce thoughtful design. This proves that responsible business can be both socially transformative and commercially successful.

This is the model we continue to refine, deepen, and share.

In 2025, we have continued our commitment to help tackle the issue of deforestation by planting 43,422 trees for farmers in Africa.

To lessen our impact on the environment, we recovered 8 tons of waste to give them a second life through thoughtful design and circular production.

Through our recycled lampshades, we have transformed 1 ton of coastal plastic waste into sustainable home decor.

Becoming “people and planet friendly” is a long-term commitment, and not just a marketing claim.

In 2025, we continued investing in:

  • Expanding our recycled plastic product line
  • Strengthening our waste collection supply chain
  • Supporting local industries through low-tech production
  • Refining our sustainable material innovations
  • Growing our TREE planting program with new candle developments

Our goal is not only to make sustainable home décor, but to help build a circular, fair, community-based industry, where waste is reimagined, materials have multiple lives, and people earn dignified incomes.

Together, we have continued our commitment by planting 43,422 trees, saving 8 tons of waste materials, and repurposed over 1 ton of coastal plastic waste. These results reflect the power of collaboration across our makers, partners, retailers, and conscious customers.

In 2026, we aim to deepen our commitment to fair and circular practices, discover new ways to turn waste into beautiful home décor, and create more job opportunities in remote areas.

With several new product developments already underway, we’re excited to reveal innovations that will expand our waste-based collections and bring this vision to life.

It’s time to create an original home. A place where you can relax, be creative, get inspired and most importantly be your 100% original you.
