The Candle Pourers from East Java, Indonesia
Wenping & his business partner Prananto started their candle making factory for a specific reason: They want to give back to their community in East-Java, Indonesia. The majority of the candle pourers are women which are empowered with special training programs. The women work in a safe environment, earn fair wages and receive free medical insurance for themselves and their families.
Candle Making
All candles in the originalhome collection are hand poured. When the wax is melted in big kettles, the craftswomen pour the liquid wax into a jar. The jar is used to pour the liquid wax into an iron mold that contains a cotton wick. Candle pouring is a very precise skill. The wax need to be poured into the mold in one go to make a consistent candle. It requires control and concentration. It is said that women are the best candle pourers!

Be careful when burning candles and follow the care and safety instructions below. Although the candles are made from 100% natural ingredients and have a clean burn, it is not healthy to inhale the smoke of a candle. Please remove all packaging before use and cut the wick to 1 cm length before lighting the candle.
