Rest Emission Compensation
Although our footprint on our planet is limited, there are still CO2 emissions from conducting our business.
Originalhome chooses consciously for CO2 compensation by FairClimateFund because of its direct impact on the environment combined with a social impact component. Replanting trees takes years before emissions can be compensated. The FairClimateFund projects create immediate improvements in the living conditions of people in vulnerable areas, that are also beneficial for the planet.
WHAT DO WE CALCULATE?
Rest Emission Compensation
2022
In 2022, our rest emissions were compensated through the Fair Climate Fund biogas project in India. With this project, originalhome supported 94 people in rural India get access to a 100% sustainable and clean way of cooking.
In India, a significant portion of the rural population relies on open fires for cooking, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and air pollution. The biogas units convert organic waste, primarily cow droppings, into methane gas through an underground bio-digester. This offers a healthier and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional open-fire cooking, benefiting both people and the planet.

Rest Emission Compensation
2021
Our rest emissions of 2021 are compensated by investing in more efficient cookstoves for women in Raichur, India. The Chulika cookstove uses a limited amount of wood and better protects from smoke emissions and thus CO2 emissions. The Chulika saves trees, helps to prevent people from getting ill from the CO2 emissions, plus it saves the women time because it is a faster way of cooking. FairClimateFund provides these cookstoves to women in India together with their local partner Janara Samuha Mutual Benefit Trust (JSMBT).
