Glassware

These handcrafted drinking glasses, carafes and vases are made from upcycled wine bottles from Zanzibar, Tanzania. They are collected from hotels, restaurants, and bars, sorted, cleaned, and cut into different shapes and sizes. Zanzibar lacks a proper waste recycling system. Waste from the tourist industry often ends up on the beach, in the sea or as landfill. The glassware is made in fair trade workshops that empowers women and young people by offering them training the glass carving craft, a stable income, English and other life skill classes.
