The Spinning Ladies from Comilla Area, Bangladesh

Traditionally hand spun yarn is not widely used anymore but this type of “easy to do from home” work is a very important source of income for women of the rural areas around Comilla, Bangladesh.

They spin their yarn on a very simple spinning wheel in their homes while their kids are playing around.

The spinning ladies are not part of the originalhome partnership program but their work is worthwhile mentioning. Their yarn is used for the weaving of the Khadi table linen.
