Messy places can make it difficult to focus on specific tasks and achieve goals throughout the day.
By engaging in the ritual of decluttering and cleaning, we feel more optimistic, confident, and productive according to research. Eliminate clutter by applying the Konmari method or any other program. This method helps you to declutter by category, instead of room-by-room. The goal is to get rid of all clutter, get organized, and use the space again for its essence. In case you do not have enough time for a complete clean up, try these green and simple tips to declutter & clean green:
Tip 1
Declutter
every room
Eliminate all unnecessary and unused items, or those made from plastic or other non-biodegradable materials. Bring them to the appropriate recycling facility.
Tip 2
Store
green
Store your items in baskets that are made from biodegradable sundried plant materials like seagrass, jute, banana leaf. They function as perfect organizers, they create a cozy atmosphere in the room, and are a more environmentally friendly option. We especially love these big strong baskets made from Hogla handwoven by the fair trade workshop in Dhaka Bangladesh.
Tip 3
Green alternatives
to plastic
When plastics are the better alternative to store (for example food) choose biodegradable or recycled plastic cases that are reusable and durable.
Tip 4
Clean with natural
cleaning products
Clean the space after the declutter phase. Although this might not your favorite choir, you will feel much better in a clean fresh home. Clean with biodegradable and/or natural cleaning products. Stock up white vinegar, baking soda and citrus fruits for making an easy all- purpose DIY cleaning product.
